Giddy 3 v1.3: bug fix release
Filed in External News, March 16, 2009, 1:00 pm
Which came first, the arms or the egg? Giddy’s just a little too weird for me to answer that one.
But anyway, here’s a new release of the Wiibrew game from developer Xeron. This is mostly a bug fix release, so it’d benefit you to update. Here’s the changelog:
- Fixed a bug which meant that Giddy could end up stuck in the ground if you stood in exactly the right place on one of the bubbles.
- Removed the erroneous bulb effect when starting the game.

Blizzard announces fiction writing contest, win a Frostmourne replica
Filed in External News, , 5:25 pm
Put those fanfic skills to good use and join Blizzard’s contest for creative writers. Winner gets to fly to Blizzard’s offices to meet with their writing staff, plus you get a very nice replica of the mighty sword, Frostmourne. If you love writing and cooking up what-ifs in game stories like me, this ought to be a fun contest to join
All you have to do is write a short story, between 3,000-10,000 words, set in the Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo universes. Deadline for entries is on April 12th, 2009, so you have less than a month to get complete your Warcraft hent. Just kidding, Blizzard will hit you across the face with Frostmourne if you submit that.
First prize is a trip to Blizzard HQ in Southern California, round trip coach air fare, two nights of lodging, and dinner with the guys at Blizzard – all worth US 1000. Who knows? You might make it to the team if they like you. They’ll also be throwing in a replica of Frostmourne, which you can use for cosplaying, scratching your back, or poking the TV when you can’t find the remote.
Seven runners-up will receive prize packs containing archive packages of Diablo, Warcraft, and StarCraft, each signed by Chris Metzen, cover artists, and the Blizzard writing staff. That’s probably the best consolation prize I’ve seen in a long time.
So pick up your writing gear, curl up in a nice, cozy corner and start writing!
